Or ever.  So <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/140130897X\/tradgirl\" target=\"'new'\">Lies at the Altar: The Truth About Great Marriages<\/a> was a strange choice for me.  I suppose the title intrigued me since I&#8217;ve always questioned how someone can honestly promise &#8220;forever.&#8221;  I know I couldn&#8217;t say that with a straight face, believing I believed it.  <\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s not really the sort of lie Dr. Robin is talking about, exactly, but she is trying to debunk the happily ever after myth that you can make a bunch of promises and it&#8217;ll all come out right.  She&#8217;s asking you to put everyday work into the relationship and also to have realistic expectations and know each other going into it.  Those concepts apply with or without the altar.<\/p>\n<p>I was looking for advice on making and keeping a relationship strong and, the title aside, something about the description of the book and the few passages I perused at the book store caught my attention.
