The first half was fun but deep, you know?  OK, we&#8217;ve got a mother killing her kid again and even two books on that subject seems like too many.  It&#8217;s probably not a trend you want to establish.  But aside from the dying children, the first half had a light flare combined with a gossipy interest that I was enjoying.  The second half was all over the place, as if Morrison wasn&#8217;t sure what she&#8217;d really planned to do with the story.  It didn&#8217;t seem connected to me.
