It tells the story of the seamy side of Hollywood in the 30s, following primarily a scene painter&#8217;s quest to lay a wanna-be actress but detouring around a variety of other characters.  It starts slowly but the characters quickly grab your attention and it ends with a bang as the hero&#8217;s predictions of a mob uprising come true.
