The Daybreakers by Louis L’Amour

I always say you don’t know if you’ll like something til you try it, so I always meant to try a western. But when it happened, it happened accidentally. I was carrying around some Louis L’Amour books that had come into my possession for a friend who does like westerns when I found myself at a blood drive without anything to read one day. So I grabbed The Daybreakers from my back seat and started reading.

It’s like a romance novel for men. The hero and heroine are so perfect. The hero can do no wrong – every shot hits its target, every guess is right. He’s taciturn but sweet, loves his mama and his girl, doesn’t want to cause trouble but always ends up in the middle of it. One big cliche and it read surprisingly slowly. I don’t think I’m going back for more of these.
