Orchestrated Death by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles

Orchestrated Death is part mystery, part love story and apparently the first book featuring this detective in what was planned, at least, to be a series. The detective is a sad sack, hopeless and stuck. The detecting isn’t particularly intersting or good. The story reads fluidly enough and there is something appealing about the love story. It has a ring of truth at the same time that it’s wildly improbably. I didn’t like this enough to hunt down more of her work but I had no trouble finishing it.
