Dubliners by James Joyce
I read Dubliners in high school because they made me and found it morose and unsatisfying. It still has the same problems. This is not a book that will cheer you up nor does it tell a “good story.” I did appreciate it more this time around as I was able to recognize the quality of the characterization and realism of the dialogue. I wouldn’t care to move to Dublin though.
