Trying Todd

Todd’s been asking if we could climb together almost since the day we broke up. I finally said yes, but sport only. It’s not that I dislike spending time with him; he’s become one of my best friends. It’s that I’ve been climbing so much better since we split and I don’t want to screw it up.

So this weekend we climbed together at Rumney and I felt it all come back: the lack of motivation, the lack of ambition, the tendency to lean. It’s not his fault, I know. (Well, except the lack of motivation part. He starts whining that he wants to quit about two hours into the day lately. It tends to drain you.) But whoever’s fault it is, it’s still something I’m having trouble getting past.
