Robin wanted to do Something Interesting. It was taken, of course. While we waited, we did Shockley’s, a mircale in itself, and the first pitches of Birdie Party and MF. But always Something Interesting was taken. It was taken, in fact, by a party apparently attempting to set the record for Longest Ascent of a Single Pitch Route Ever. Towards this end, they were doing it in multiple pitches. How many exactly, I didn’t stay to find out.
We walked down to the Bonnie’s area and did Groovy and Bonnie’s (with the normal finish) and no one could call that a bad day. But from the top of Bonnie’s I was inspired to take one more stab at getting Robin on Something Interesting. Another party graciously allowed us to ride their ropes down, thus saving us the walk to High E and three rappels. I lowered Robin to save even more time and we dashed like the wind to Something Interesting, found it open, and dashed like the wind up it.
At the top we found one bazillion other parties so we climbed up and walked off rather than wait for the raps down. We took a little longer than the party in line before us, but not so much that it wasn’t worth the final pitch of Three Pines.
