First attempt at first 5.10 didn’t go so well. Retribution surprised me by being hard and unfamiliar when it was supposed to be a gimme entry to the 5.10 game. Now I’m back for round two, somewhat wiser and with my memory, at least, refreshed. And damned if the thing doesn’t spit me off again. I don’t know how many more falls I took – a few. I may hold the record for most falls on Retribution now. Not many people are so determined; you have to give me that.

On Sunday, Steven and I made an epic ascent of Last Frontier that took most of the day and all of our energy. His leading got so ugly it can only be called aiding. Then my following got uglier. I did once do all the moves on that route under my own power, but not today. I think I don’t like me no bombay chimneys.
