I know I’ve followed Hi Coroner but I don’t remember it being this bad. I led the first pitch and Mark led what seemed like a different version of the second pitch than I remembered. Then I tried to lead the third, crux pitch. There’s just so little gear and it looked wet and improbable. In the end I bailed for Hi Corner which was absolutely streaming with water, but at least I could get gear in. At the top, I think I got back on Hi Coroner to finish but since I’m not really sure which route goes where I can’t swear to it.
Then I couldn’t finish leading Dat-Mantle either. I made the big reach over the roof and got the gear in but I couldn’t figure out how to get up on my foot. Steven took over and showed me how he does it with his hands to the right and foot to the left and I found the hold he was talking about to help me pull up, so I think it might go better next time. Then we TR’d Dis-Mantle and I didn’t find that move over the first roof so bad once I found the key left hand undercling, so I think that might go too.
All in all, a good day of beginnings but a bad day of endings.
